The sparrow was built in 1909 in the bustling town of Waco where cotton was the main source of economic growth. Dr. Pepper was a local favorite and had just been introduced to the world at the 1904 World’s Fair Exposition in St. Louis. Thomas and Rosa Glover built the home just two years after their marriage where they lived the remainder of their lives with their son Tommy, a Waco High School football star in the late 1920s. Rosa taught piano lessons in the home for more than half a century and was a prominent figure in the community.
We've done our best to maintain the integrity of the home and some of the original wallpaper, which we found during renovation, is framed in the living room. We hope you enjoy the history of this home as much as we do.
The sparrow is mainly rented through mid-term (30+ days) rentals. Contact us for more information.
